01 · At a glance
ScaleMyPlate is a smart food scale that shows calories, protein, carbs and fat live as you build your plate. Scan it or search it, set it on the plate, and the scale does the math.
02 · The story
I built it to solve my own problem. Now I'm sharing it to help you solve yours.
"ScaleMyPlate is what I always wished I had."
For years, Alexis Savard struggled with portion sizes and macro tracking. He could never picture what 100 grams looked like, and every meal turned into a math lesson.
The routine made no sense to him: weigh the food, write the number down, open an app, search for the right entry, then do the math to fix the portion. In his words, it was "way too much work just to eat the right way."
So he built the tool he wished he had. ScaleMyPlate puts a precision scale, a barcode scanner, a touch screen and a food database in one device. You build your plate on it and watch the whole meal add up as each food lands. It started in a kitchen, with prototype parts 3D printed layer by layer, and every unit is still hand-assembled in Canada.

ScaleMyPlate makes a smart food scale for real-time macro tracking. Scan a barcode or search more than 3 million foods on the touch screen, set the food on the plate, and the scale shows its calories, protein, carbs and fat from the real weight, along with the total for the whole meal. Each unit is hand-assembled in Canada.
ScaleMyPlate makes a smart food scale for real-time macro tracking. Founder Alexis Savard built it after years of weighing food, opening an app, searching for macros and doing the math at every meal. The scale does that whole routine in one place: a built-in barcode scanner, a touch screen with more than 3 million foods, and load cells accurate to 1 gram. Calories, protein, carbs and fat update live as each food lands on the plate, with no phone needed. Each unit is 3D-printed and hand-assembled in Canada, one at a time. ScaleMyPlate ships to Canada and the United States. Learn more at scalemyplate.com.
03 · Story angles
Starting points for editors and journalists. We're happy to help with interviews, quotes and images for any of them.
A frustrated macro tracker turns a five-step kitchen routine (weigh, write, open the app, search, calculate) into one device on the counter.
Photo apps estimate what's on a plate from a picture. ScaleMyPlate reads the barcode and the real weight instead, so the same plate gives the same answer every time.
Small-batch hardware that started in a kitchen: 3D-printed shells, hand assembly, and every scale calibrated and tested by hand during assembly.
No smartphone at the counter and no app required. Two people can share one scale, each with their own goals, meals and history.
04 · For creators
The scale is made for the camera: real food, real numbers, and a screen that adds up the meal as you go.
